Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue
Earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed greenish-white, and painted in blue. On one side there is a shield-of-arms (on a chevron between three fleurs-de-lys, three lions heads), supported by lions, with a viscount's coronet above. Below there is a vacant cartouche. Two horizontal bands run round the base and below the rim.
History note: Swift, a travelling dealer, from whom bought for £3 by Mr. Miller, dealer of Lansdown Terrace (or Place), Bournemouth, who sold it on August 29, 1925 for £4 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge. .
