Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with a standing figure of Mezzetin in a landscape
Buff earthenware, tin-glazed greyish-white and painted and sponged in blue. Circular with a sloping, slightly concave rim, shallow well, and recessed base. The front is decorated with a standing figure, probably Mezzetin from the Italian Comedy, playing a lute, in a landscape with sponged trees and shrubs on either side, and five birds flying overhead. Round the edge there is a narrow blue line.
