Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue. The cup has deep curved sides with a very slightly everted rim. The saucer has curved sides and stands on a footring. Both pieces are painted with a landscape wth a house, rocks and trees beside a river or lake.

History note: Mr Stewart Acton, 10a East Street, Brighton from whom purchased with a miniature tea set on 16 November 1923 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
