Fritware coated in white glaze painted in blue, red and brown and gilded
Red fritware, wheel thrown, coated in white glaze painted under the glaze in blue, over the glaze in red and brown and gilded.
Shape: hemispherical bowl with a plain rim, sits on a narrow foot ring.
Interior: the rim is painted with a red and blue band. On the body a radiating panel design comprises a blue cross, outlined with red containing vertical lines of gold lozenges surrounded by red or brown circles and scrolling tendrils. Within the arms of the cross lobbed triangular cartouches contain further circles and dots, all painted in red or brown.
Exterior: on the rim a blue band is painted above brown lines which radiate towards the base, imitating a lotus petal design. Glaze runs over the surface terminating unevenly on the foot ring.
