Tin-glazed earthenware posset pot, the handles are of flat oval section, with rolled terminals. The body and the lid are painted with birds and flowers. There is a band of Chinese classic scrolls and flowers around the mouth, and stripes and dots on the handles. The painting is in blue, with manganese-purple outlines. Bluish glaze, over a buff body.
History note: Mr Acton, 10a East Street, Brighton from whom bought for £2.10s.0d. on 2 January 1897 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
