Pottery: unidentified London pottery (Probably)
Tin-glazed earthenwre painted in slate-blue, greyish-green, deep yellow and manganese-purple with tulips, thistles and a sunflower; border of blue scallops
Buff earthenware, the front tin-glazed and painted in slate-blue, greyish-green, deep yellow and manganese-purple; reverse slip-coated and lead-glazed yellowish-brown. Circular with deep curved sides and everted rim, standing on a footring pierced by a suspension hole. The front is decorated with a central sunflower or rosette, surrounded by three tulips, four thistles and foliage springing from a mound. Round the edge there are two manganese-purple bands, and a border of blue semi-circles and dots.
History note: Probably J. Bateman, 42 Gloucester Green, Oxford from whom purchased on 19 July 1912 for £2.10s. by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
