Production: Unknown
Finely potted polychrome stoneware bowl with a high carved foot. There bowl has tiny crackles in creamy white glaze with exterior decoration in red, green, yellow and brown overglaze. The sketchy design is difficult to decipher, which may be possibly related to the eight Buddhist emblems or eight auspicious omens. Three canopies (?) alternate with three beribboned ji characters - ji means good fortune. The foot and base are glazed.
There is no decoration on the interior of the bowl, except for hastily drawn ji characters in red paint or overglaze.
South China export.
