Description

Tin-glazed earthenware decorated in polychrome with Adam and Eve beside the Tree of Knowledge

Buff earthenware tin-glazed bluish-white, painted and sponged in blue, and painted in dull green, yellow, red, and manganese-purple. Circular with deep curved sides and narrow slightly everted rim, standing on a footring. The front is decorated with Adam and Eve holding leaves, standing on either side of the Tree of Knowledge in which a red and yellow striped serpent is entwined. On the right and left there are three-tier sponged bushes. Round the rim there is a border of two blue bands and broad blue dashes
