Pottery: Brislington Pottery
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with Chinese figures in a landscape, and with turquoise-green on the handles
Buff earthenware tin-glazed very pale turquoise-blue, and painted in blue and turquoise-green. The bulbous pot stands on three feet in the shape of birds. It has two handles made of three joined rolls of clay with applied pellets on the backs and volutes with twisting terminals at the junctions with the body. The spout is decorated with pellets and has twisting terminals at both ends. The domed cover has two handles like those on the body which are joined at the top to a large acorn-shaped knob with a small acorn-shaped finial (restored). On the back of all four handles there is a turquoise-green snake. The sides and cover are decorated with Chinese figures standing or sitting in Oriental landscapes.
