Fritware painted in blue and black under a clear glaze
Fritware, probably wheel thrown, painted in blue and black under a clear crazed, pitted glaze
Shape: hemispherical bowl, plain rim and slightly splayed foot ring
Interior: the rim is painted with a blue dentilated pattern. The body is divided into panels by six black radiating wedges, with blue edging and containing an Arabic inscription (cursive) painted in reserve. Each panel contains a repeating linear pattern comprising groups of four black dots.
Exterior: decoration is painted in black with a concentric band on the rim and a frieze comprising a scrolling water weed pattern on the upper body. Glaze runs unevenly over the foot ring.
