Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, green, two shades of yellow and red with a swimming mermaid blowing a horn between rocks and trees, surrounded by a blue strokes and red rounded Ms
Buff earthenware, the front tin-glazed and painted in blue, green, two shades of yellow and red; the reverse covered with lumpy white tin-glaze. Circular with deep curved sides, and slightly everted rim, standing on a broad footring. Painted in the middle with a swimming mermaid blowing a horn between trees on rocks, and more rocks in the foreground. The edge is encircled by groups of three blue dashes alternating with red Ms
History note: A dealer in St Ives, Huntingdonshire from whom purchased by Mr Roe of Cambridge who sold it on 25 July 1906 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge

The dish was probably made in either Brislington or Bristol. Both the mermaid subject and the border pattern are unusual on delftware 'chargers'.
