Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in polychrome with geometrical and floral decoration

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed bluish-white and painted in blue, green, yellow, red, and manganese-purple. Circular wth slightly sloping rim, shallow curved sides and flat centre with a recessed base. Decorated n the centre with a flower inside a seven-sided motif with projecting flowers and leaves. The rim has four floral sprays alternating with four semi-circles with projecting panels and leaves pointing towards the centre.

Note

This pattern is known as 'Ann Gomm pattern' because it occurs on three plates bearing that name. Fragments of many plates decorated with it were found at Lambeth by F.H. Garner.
