Description

Ironstone china printed underglaze in blue, and painted overglaze in red, green, and pale brown enamels. The jug has an octagonal bulbous body and straight-sided neck flaring slightly towards the projecting lip and shaped mouth. The handle is in the form of a dragon with its head curved round to the left onto the side of the neck. The exterior of the body and the inside of the neck are painted with flowering plants and foliage in 'Imari' or 'Japan' style, and the serpent handle has a pale brown head, a green exterior and a red underside.
