Renaissance maiolica jug, painted in blue, green and yellow with, on the front, a 'ladder' frame enclosinga bust of a woman.
Pale red earthenware, the interior lead-glazed yellowish-brown; the exterior, slip-coated and thinly tin-glazed off-white; base unglazed. Painted in blue, green, and yellow. Shape 43. Ovoid with flat base, short neck expanding towards the rim which is pinched at the front to form a spout, and broad strap handle. On the front, a lemon-shaped `ladder' frame encloses a bust of a woman in profile to left flanked by blue chevrons and half circles. Down each side is a vertical green squiggle.
