Fritware, incised, pierced and splashed with blue under a clear glaze
Buff fritware, wheel thrown, with incised and pierced decoration under splashes of blue and a slightly crazed clear glaze.
Shape: Cono-segmental bowl, finely potted with foot ring and slightly everted rim which displays indentations at four irregular intervals, possibly from the manufacturing process.
Interior: At a mid point on the body a frieze of incised abstract palmettes and scrolling vegetation is delimited, above and below by a pair of concentric lines. This frieze is also dotted with small piercings in no particular pattern. Four radiating blue lines, at roughly regular intervals, are splashed onto the body under the glaze.
Exterior: Body is pierced from the exterior surface leaving a lumpy appearance to the surface. Dots of blue paint are present at irregular intervals. The clear glaze extends down at least three quarters of the upper body.
