Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in polychrome with a Chinese lake scene, and bianco-sopra-bianco border

Buff earthenwar tin-glazed pale lavender-blue , painted in yellow, green, blue and manganese-purple high-temperature colours, and in opaque white in bianco-sopra-bianco technique. Circular with a scalloped and fluted rim, shallow curved sides, flat centre, and recessed base. Painted in the middle with a Chinese lake-scene with a large rock, buildings, two figures, and a boat within a narrow border of wicker-pattern alternating with pairs of stylized leaves or ferns. The rim is decorated in bianco sopra bianco with a border of V-shaped motifs, alternating with circles, paired scrolls, and a bud or arrowhead one above the other.
