Buff earthenware, tin-glazed blush-white and painted in blue, green, yellow, red, and manganese-purple. Circular with a slightly sloping rim, shallow curved well, and flat centre with recessed base. On the right three stems of bamboo (?) are growing on a fenced terrace. On the left two birds are standing in a pool and one is diving down from above.
History note: Said by the vendor,Mr Jolley of Cambridge, to have been obtained with four similar plates from Barkway Ash, Hertfordshire; bought for 3s. 6d. on 14 June 1894 by Dr J.W.L.Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
