Wincanton Pottery (Pottery)

Description

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue, and in brown round the edge. Circular with a wide rim, shallow sloping sides, and recessed base. The front is decorated with an Oriental view of lake or river with a bridge, three boats, and a pavillion on the bank. On the reverse, there are three sprays of flowers, and flying insects, and in the middle, the place name and date, 'Wincanton/1739'.
