Pottery: Unidentified Liverpool pottery
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue
Buff earthenware, moulded, covered with pale bluish-grey tin-glaze and painted in blue. Octagonal with a sloping rim, and circular well with curved sides; the base is recessed slightly. The well is decorated with a branch bearing several different flowers. The rim has four panels of trellis diaper alternating with stylized flowers reserved in a blue ground. On the back of the rim there are three meandering twigs or ribbons.
History note: Mr Harrison's shop, King Street, off Cheapside, London, EC, from whom boughtt for £1 on 14 May 1917 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
