Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue

Buff earthenware, probably thrown, and crimped round the edge, covered with slightly bluish tin-glaze and painted in blue. Circular with a 'pie crust' border, and deep curved sides, standing on a footring. Painted in the middle with a large lotus and bamboo, and round the upper part of the sides with a border of trellis diaper broken by four circular panels each containing a stylized plant motif reserved in a blue ground.
