The Queen kneeling before Belshazzar
History note: Label on object stated that it came from a house in Lubeck demolished in 1872 (but this conflicts with later date of purchase given on label on frame); purchased in Edinburgh in 1870 from a German Jew named Stute (?) by Lord David Kennedy (1820-1905) ,who from 1875-1905 lived at 93 Queen's Gate, London; probably his widow, Lady Mary (d. 1916). Mr Rochelle Thomas, London, from whom bought for £22.10s. on 25 April 1923 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge.
