Description

Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in a white glaze painted in lustre and coloured with blue on the base.
Shape: conical bowl with slightly convex body, sits on a low foot ring.
Interior: radiating from a central triangle, with a chequer board pattern, three arabesques are painted on the body where they alternate with medallions containing seated figures.
Exterior: rim is painted with a lustre band above a frieze of pseudo-calligraphy. White glaze covers the body and runs unevenly onto the foot ring, where it is splashed with blue. A band of blue pigment is painted on the rim of the foot ring and blue glaze covers the underside.
