Dish in the form of a Hen on a Basket
Factory: Mafra Factory
Earthenware, moulded in two parts, and painted in yellow, green and manganese-brown under yellowish lead-glaze, except for the comb and wattles which are painted in unfired red. The dish is in the form of a deep-sided basket and the cover in the form of a hen sitting on the basket.

Cypriano Gomes Mafra founded a factory at Caldas da Reinha in 1853 and it was transferred in 1887 to his son Eduardo Augusto. Vessels in the form of animals was one of the factory's specialities.
