Note

According to information obtained locally by Dr Glaisher, J. Nicholls worked for forty years at the pottery of J. Brown and Sons, Bridgwater, and died about 1908. In the 1881 British Census, he was recorded as John Nicholls, born in 1845, 36 years old, a married innkeeper and potter, living at the Castle Inn, Binford Place, Bridgewater, (PRO ref, RG11, folio 2374/4 p. 1.)
