Ruby-ground dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in pink, green. yellow, white, black and turquoise enamels, and gilding. The shallow, rounded sides have a broad everted rim and rest on a low tapered foot. The interior is decorated with a wide scroll unfurled horizontally to display a cockerel with black and golden feathers perched on a grassy bank beside a pale pink peony, gazing up at a pink dragonfly in fiight overhead. A further dense cluster of peonies is shaded pale pink and cream with foliage in turquoise and green to one side. The underside of the scroll is decorated with pale green cell-diaper and there is another thin scroll with turquoise brocade-diaper underside placed vertically beneath to show a humming bird perched on a trailing stem of crimson peony shading to white. All reserved against a dark purplish-pink ground between two chrysanthemm flowerheads in white tinged with green. The underside is entirely blue.
