Description

Hard-paste porcelain painted in shaded tones of rich tomato-red coloured enamel with Imperial dragons in pursuit of 'flaming pearls'.

Hard-paste porcelain painted in shaded tones of rich tomato-red coloured enamel. The well rounded sides are resting on a shallow tapered double footring and are gently flared beneath the lipped rim. The interior is decorated with a double line medallion enclosing two vigorously painted five-clawed dragons with long thin bodies contending a central 'flaming pearl' amongst flickering tongues of flame. It is encircled round the well by four smaller dragons running in pursuit of 'pearls' among scattered flames. The underside has a matching frieze of four dragons chasing 'pearls'. All within double line borders.
