Description

Deep earthenware dish, press-moulded, slip-coated in dark cream, and slip-trailed in pale and dark brown under lead glaze. A central medallion encloses a pair of gloves and geometical motifs, surrounded by a border of four lions alternating with four fleurs de lys.

Buff earthenware, press-moulded to produce a design in relief on the inside of the dish, coated with dark cream slip, and slip-trailed in pale brown and dark brown under lead-glaze. The reverse is undecorated and unglazed. The circular dish has deep curved sides, and a pie crust edge. It is decorated with a central medallion enclosing a pair of gloves and four semi-circles, surrounded by a wide border with four crowned lions passant (body sideways and head facing front) alternating with four fleurs de lys.
