Description

Earthenware, the bowl and cover with double walls, the outer one pierced with a geometrical pattern, splashed with manganese-brown under dark yellowish lead-glaze

Buff earthenware, double-walled bowl and cover, the outer wall of both pierced with a geometrical pattern, and streaked with dark manganese-brown under dark yellow lead-glaze. The bowl stands on a footring, and has deep curved sides and horizontal lugs. The glaze and colour have run into a dark pool on the interior. The circular cover has a serrated upstanding edge, and a flat, undecorated underside. The pierced wall is domed and has an upstanding circle of adjacent volutes around the openwork double bun shaped knob The glaze and colour has pooled within the volutes.
