Note

This teabowl may have been made in Yorkshire, possibly at the Leeds Pottery, or in Staffordshire. It belongs to a class of pottery known as 'Dutch-decorated Creamware' because the enamlled decoration was applied in the Netherlands. The Dutch name Teuntje is a feminine form of the boy's name Teun, but it can be used for a boy. When it was accessioned in 1928 it was described as a 'Marriage Cup'.
