Large Plate


Plowman, Thomas (Potter)


Buff stoneware, thrown and turned. Circular with shallow curved sides and narrow rim. Covered with cream-grey oatmeal glaze on the interior and decorated with a wax resist flourish in chestnut-brown. The underside and base, except foot rim, are covered with the same chestnut brown glaze. The oatmeal glaze has bubbled and pitted extensively.


History note: Purchased from the exhibition 'Ceramic Form', held at Kettle's Yard, Cambridge, June 1-14, 1975, no. 364
