Deep press-moulded dish decorated with two shades of brown slip and lead-glazed. A horseman holding a sword riding to the viewer's right, with the initials GR and the date 1716 above, initials IS below, and three medallions in the spaces
Buff earthenware, press-moulded over a hump mould to produce a design with rouletted edges in relief on the inside, scalloped round the edge with a tool or shell, coated internally with cream slip, and slip-trailed in brown and dark brown under yellowish lead-glaze. Circular with deep curved sides and a pie-crust edge. A horseman holding a sword gallops to the viewer's right. Above is the date 1716 in relief, and the initials G R for Georgius Rex. Below are the initials I S (S reversed). Three large medallions occupy the spaces between the initials and the right and left of the horse. At the top, above the horse's neck there is a motif resembling a pot with a conical lid. A dark brown line encircles the edge below the scalloping.
