Description

Buff earthenware coated with white slip on the front and back except for the base, and painted in lavender-blue, turquoise, yellow and manganese-brown under clear glaze. The circular dish has a scalloped edge, a narrow rim, deep curved sides, and a flat base. The well is decorated in the middle with a standing peasant woman wearing a turquoise jacket and brown skirt with a striped and embroidered apron. The sides of the well are decorated with two floral sprigs and two larger arrangements of foliated scrolls. The scalloped edge is dappled in manganese-brown.
