'Mandarin Palette' Punch bowl. Hard-paste porcelain painted in enamel colours, predominantly iron-red, two greens, yellow, pink, black, brown, and gilding. The steeply rounded sides are resting on a high, slightly tapered foot, and decorated round the exterior with two large scroll-edged panels showing river bank scenes with Chinese figures among buildings in European style; divided by two vignettes of birds perched on branches and gazing at their mates in flight above. All edged in iron-red and gilt scrolls and reserved on an iron-red and black cell-diaper ground strewn with pink flowers. The interior has a central floral cluster and a narrow key-fret band in iron-red and gilding round the rim.
