Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue. Cylindrical with curved shoulders, short cylindrical neck with an upward-tilting lip, and an angular handle. Decorated on the front with a quatrefoil frame with stylized flowers and fruit on its outer edge, enclosing a view of a windmill. Below are two stylized flowers and the monogram ELB for Ervan Lucas Bols, between groups of three curved motifs. The sides are decorated with detached floral sprigs and round the base there are two narrow bands, and below the handle, a fruit or flower flanked by leaves. Under the lip there is a group of formal leaves, and round the rim a narrow band. The outisde of the handle is decorated with two groups of short graduated horizontal lines with a circle and four dots between them, and down each side, a line.
