Buff stoneware with lustrous brown glaze (Lehmglazur), decorated in pale buff clay with moulded reliefs of the Paschal Lamb flanked by sprays of stylized flowers and foliage
Buff stoneware, thrown, with applied handle and separate cover, lustrous brown glaze (Lehmglazur), decorated in pale buff lay with moulded and applied reliefs. The jug has an ovoid body standing on a solid foot, a conical neck with a pinched lip, and a strap handle. The circular, slightly convex cover has a knob in the shape of a three-cornered hat or bud. The front below the lip is decorated with a relief of the Paschal Lamb or Agnus Dei holding a flag, which has on each side, a wavy spray with three flowers and foliage.

Bunzlau in Silesia, became part of Prussia following the Peace of Breslau in 1742. It is now in Poland and known as Boleslawiec. Unlike much Germanic stoneware its products were not salt-glazed, but had a lustrous brown glaze known as Lehmglasur.
