Label text from the exhibition ‘Things of Beauty Growing: British Studio Pottery’ on display at The Fitzwilliam Museum from 20 March until 17 June 2018: This is an example of the kind of seventeenth-century English slipware that so inspired early Studio potters such as Bernard Leach and Michael Cardew. These large, lively dishes, made for display feature people and animals. This dish is boldly signed as made by Ralph Toft.
