Brampton (Probably)
Salt-glazed stoneware jar with lustrous dark brown dip on the exterior, decorated with rouletting.
Jar. Salt-glazed stoneware. Buff fabric with lustrous dark brown dip on the exterior; interior lead-glazed. Cylindrical, tapering slightly towards the base, with sloping shoulders, short neck and projecting rim. Decorated with rouletting: a wide band of waves or hillocks between narrow bands of short vertical strokes.
History note: Found in the roof of Founder's Building during building work, Autumn, 1987. Method of acquisition unknown.
