Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue and dark manganese-purple
Buff earthenware, tin-glazed overall, except for the undersides of the feet. Painted in bright blue outlined with manganese. Hollow square pedestal, splaying outwards at the bottom, with four paw feet, terminal figures of winged putti in relief at each corner, and a shallow circular depression in the top for salt.
The sides are decorated with flowering plants, except for the splayed area which is striped vertically. The winged terms and the feet are coloured blue overall. The salt pan has a blue `S' in the middle and a border of a wide blue line between two narrow lines. The area between the salt depression and the outer edge is divided by short radial lines into four compartments filled with foliage.
