Two Boys with a Bird's nest
Production: Niderviller factory
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in polychrome enamels. A boy holding a bird's nest which a smaller boy is trying to reach.
Earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed, and painted in blue, shades of green, yellow, flesh pink, pale red, red, brown, and black enamels. The figures stand in front of a tree stump on a high stony and mossy mound, rising from a rectangular base with a yellow edge, which is hollow underneath. The older boy stands with his feet well apart, and holds a bird's nest in both hands at chest level. He looks back over his right shoulder towards a smaller boy who reaches up to his shoulder in an attempt to reach the bird's nest. The older boy has a black hat over his brown hair. He wears a white shirt, a pale red waistcoat, a brown coat, blue breeches, white stockings and black shoes with buckles. The younger boy has pale greyish-brown hair, and wears a white shirt, a pale green waistcoat, and red breeches. His legs and feet are bare. Both boys have rosy cheeks, red lips, and black eyebrows and irises. The bird's nest is brown and contains yellow chicks.
