Description

Tin-glazed earthenware fragment of part of the neck and shoulder of a pharmacy jar of albarello form, painted in blue and yellow. The decoration comprises a row of blue criss-crosses between pairs of horizontal blue bands, with below a broad yellow band between narrow blue bands. At the bottom is the top of a blue motif, perhaps foliage.

History note: Found on the site of the Manor House, behind the Blue Boar in Trinity Street, Cambridge, in 1911. Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge.
