Description

Tin-glazed earthenware fragment of a pharmacy jar painted in blue, yellow, and manganese-purple

Buff earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed on the exterior and painted in blue, yellow, and manganese-purple, and lead-glazed on the interior. Part of the side of a small slightly waisted albarello with an everted rim. The main field is decorated with blue half serrated leaves and blue and yellow mounts or half pine cone motifs with horizontal blue and manganese-purple bands above and below. The shoulder has a border of blue criss-crosses with a wide blue band above below the rim.
