Strawberry Dish and Stand
Factory: Greek A Factory
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with Chinese figures and sprays of peony
Earthenware, moulded and perforated, tin-glazed, and painted in blue. The deep circular dish has three scroll feet and is perforated in the middle to serve as a strainer; its edge is divided into six lobes with deep indentations between. The dish is of similar shape but with much shallower sides, and has a slightly recessed base. Both are painted with three standing figures of Chinese ladies alternating with sprays of peony; in the middle of the dish is another spray and in the middle of the stand, a stag standing beside a small shrub. The underside of the dish is decorated with six Chinese emblems with ribbons. The dish has three peg marks on the reverse.
