Workshop: Domenego da Venezia (Probably)
Renaissance maiolica jar, painted in polychrome with, on each side, an oval panel enclosing the bust of a man, and another with the bust of a woman.
Jar. Earthenware, tin-glazed creamy-white on both sides; rim and base unglazed. Painted in blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, manganese-purple, black, and a little white.
Globular with short narrow neck, and flat base.
On each side there is an oval panel with a scrolled frame: one enclosing the bust of a man in profile to right wearing a doublet and ruff; the other, the bust of a woman in profile to right. The sides are decorated with stylized foliage and flowers, reserved in a blue ground incised with short curved strokes. Narrow blue and wider yellow horizontal bands encircle the base and neck.
