Charles II hiding in the Boscobel Oak

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue. Circular. Painted overall with an oak treee amongst the branches of which is a bust of Charles II wearing a plumed hat, with above it, three crowns, and the inscription: 'PURSUI'D BY MEN, PRESERV'D BY GOD'. In the distance to the left are, a house with the name: 'Boscobell house' and a ship riding at anchor, in the direction of which the king is shown riding, twice over (in one case with Col. Lane's daughter on a pillion), with a man on foot. To the right are seen several soldiers, some mounted, with ribbons aboe them inscribed: 'The price is 1000 pound', 'Dead or alive;, 'No qvarter', and a fourth indecipherable inscription.
