Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with an Emperor in a chariot and other figures in a Chinese landscape

Pale buff earthenware tin-glazed and painted in blue. Of octagonal baluster form with a domed cover with an octagonal flange, a large round knob, and an internal circular rim. The body is decorated with a Chinese landscape with an emperor in a two-wheeled chariot pushed by a naked man, in front of it are two more figures, one of whom bears a parasol. Round the shoulder and on the lid are lambrequins filled with conventional flowers and scrolls in reserve. Below the scene there is a horizontal band of small panels wth figures in landscapes alternating with foliated motifs, and below that, a foliated motif on each facet. The dome of the cover is decorated with lambrequins matching those on the shoulder, but pointing upwards, and on the flange has alternating pointed leave's and fungus (?). The junction of the knob and cover is encircled by three narrow blue bands. The top of the knob is painted with a man in a landscape below which are two narrow horizontal bands and a row of downward pointing V shapes. On the base and cover is the mark V over L.
