Tn-glazed earthenware plate painted in blue with a heart enclosing the inscription John/Elisbeth/audis/1759
Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue. Circular, painted in the middle with the names and date 'John/Elisbeth/audis/1759' in a heart-shaped panel with a basket of fruit above. On the rim are sprays of Chinese-style flowers and insects. On the base, the mark '10'.
History note: W.F.A. Wilson collection; sold Christie's 15-16 November 1916, Collection of old English pottery and porcelain from the W.F.A. Wi lson collection, part of lot 61; sold for 13 guineas to Mr Stoner; this plate sold to Thomas Sutton, Eastbourne, from whom purchased for £5 on 15 December 1907 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
