Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with scrolls and dots

Pale buff earthenware, thrown, tin-glazed and painted in dark blue. The pot is cylindrical with two loop handles and a narrow shoulder and short neck. The circular cover is very slightly convex with straight sides, and a circular button-shaped knob. It has a circular flange on the underside which fits inside the neck of the pot. On each side of the pot there is a rectangular outline filled by four double scrolls with dots in the background. The handles have horizontal stripes down their backs. The cover is divided by double lines into two halves decorated en suite with the sides of the pot, the knob is blue overall, and there is a wide blue band round the sides.
