Box and cover. Hard-paste porcelain painted underglaze in blue, and iron red, green, yellow, aubergine and black enamels. The circular shallow box has gently rounded sides resting on a very low footrim, a blue line border round the base and another beneath the rim. The glaze on the interior and exterior of the box and on the interior of the cover (A) is heavily pitted. The top of the cover has a circular medallion enclosing a boy wearing a yellow apron holding a lotus leaf and climbing among lotus blooms and stems, within a narrow iron-red zig-zag band between line borders in underglaze blue. There is a further blue line border round the rim.
