Description

Tin-glazed earthenware plate painted in blue, olive-green and yellow with a bust of William III, flanked by tulips and initials K W

Buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed, and painted in blue, olive-green, and yellow. Circular with a narrow everted rim, deep curved sides and flat centre, standing on a shallow footring. The well is painted with a half-length figure of William III wearing a crown, a voluminous wig, and armour, flanked by yellow tulips and the initials K and W. On the rim there is a border of blue wavy lines alternating with yellow spots. the glaze on the reverse has numerous pin holes.
