Description

Tin-glazed earthenware deep dish painted in green, yellow and manganese-purple with a half figure of William III surrounded by stylized tulips and foliage on a continuous stem

Pale buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed, and painted in green, yellow, and manganese-purple. Circular with everted nine-lobed rim, deep sides, and almost flat centre, standing on a footring. In the middle within a frame of two concentric circles, is a half-figure of King William III, crowned and wearing a long wig and armour, flanked by the initials K and W. On the sides there is a continuous stem with three stylized yellow and manganese-purple tulips, six yellow fruits, and three pairs of green leaves with manganese-purple projections. On the underside of the rim there is one peg mark
